Checking on createEnd....

Is there a "standard" way for objects to be able to know whether they
have been createEnd'ed yet?

If not, *should* there be?

(Presumably, one *can* add ad hoc mechanisms to achieve this in
individual cases - but before doing that I want to raise the
possibility that this should be a standard facility of the
create phase mechanism...)
