Of course it would be possible to converse with the window manager

Well, you can overlap the frames. Swarm 1.3.1 will raise each frame before
taking a snapshot.
Otherwise, write some window manager scripts. You can use the window
class (prefixed with "Swarm") to identify which windows are from
Swarm.
