        Sorry about the incorrect subect heading in the original 
message.  In response to Paul Johnson's question, I had not complied and 
installed the supporting packages after unzipping and untarring.  Are you 
suggesting that I should have?  The system I am using is an IBM Unix AIX.

        I am about to follow Marcus' recommendation and will see if it works.

If you are using linux, those packages are available in precompiled
forms, probably
in your distribution.
