Assuming you did a `make install' after this, I don't see why the
linker would be complaining about this.  Btw, model linking will be
much faster if you use shared libraries.  If you didn't request
--disable-shared I'm kind of suprised that you didn't get them, that
suggests to me your system could use an upgrade.
