Hmm, kaffe 1.0.4 is missing some of the JDK 1.2 collections stuff.
If you're really using 1.0.4 (I suspect you're actually using 1.0.5), 
I've added a jdk12.tar.gz file to the distribution that should be
unpacked in the xml/ directory.  

Also, the Solaris binary distribution has a version of Jikes that is
known to problems with the Scheme example.  I've put a working
jikes binary in ftp://ftp.santafe.edu/pub/swarm/sparc-solaris-2.7/jikes
that should replace /opt/SDGkaffe/1.0b4/bin.
