RE: Java clarification please

I tried JBuilder for Linux (Redhat 6) yesterday, and whatever directory I
tried to install it in (yes, ones where I had write access), I would get a
message you need xxx MB free, you have only 0 MB free. I saw something on
Slashdot suggesting unmounting NFS stuff when trying to use InstallAnywhere,
and sure enough, that worked.

Then there is the problem of getting the key. This stuff is not so free.
Yesterday the key-getting thingy was down. Now it is up, and just wants
gobs of personal info.

So now I am a member of the Borland community, the main effect of which will
undoubtedly be spam, but still have no serial number and key to give.

Finally obtaining a quasi-legal key, I am able to actually start the
program!

Phew, I'm spent.

Today I learned the Borland JBuilder thing for linux & java is
released. Free. Their site seems swamped now, but later you can see it
at:
http://www.borland.com/jbuilder/foundation/download/linux.html

ANd in there they say install jdk1.2.2 and refer to a kit from
http://www.javasoft.com. I'm registered in the SUN developer community
there, so I'm downloading that now.

Questions

1. To a new visitor, this is really confusing. How is the Blackdown JDK
implementaiton from Sun's source code likely to be different from Sun's
implementation? Is one better?

2. Assuming your answer is "those are packages adapted by different
people based on the same Sun Source for Java 2," (which I guess is the
answer), Is this Sun JDK in practice interchangable with the thing from
www.blackdown.org?

 A. I know for certain Swarm works with the Blackdown JDK. Is it
supposed to work with this Sun one?

 B. Is Swarm compiled against one likely to work if the other is just
installed in its place?

 C. Is the JBuilder thing really going to get worked up if I try to run
it with the Blackdown jdk1.2.2 where it expects to find the Sun one?
