Tcl/Tk doesn't either -- the problem with that code as it stands, w.r.t.
performance, is too much reliance on the Tcl interpreter to do GUI things.
If it were re-written to use Tk functions, it would be more compact
and faster.
Likewise, the Kaffe project (http://www.kaffe.org), the gcj people at
Redhat (http://sourceware.cygnus.com/java), and the Classpath
(http://www.classpath.org) folks are all working on library features
like AWT and Swing.
