Depending on the distribution you're using, this shouldn't be
a problem. Rather than install the packages in a piecewise fasion
(downloading *.deb and running dpkg), try using apt-get (man apt-get).
Follow the recommendations of apt-get for package dependencies.
I've got BLT 8.0-8.4 installed and am linking swarm against 8.3.
I compiled swarm from the cvs libraries... so, your results may
vary.
