Now I don't recommend those tcl/tk, actually. I use the ones RH 
distributes.  I also say not to use HDF 1.6.0, use 1.5.0post2.

So tell me this. What is y our configure line when you build Swarm, and 
during the build what kind of warnings are there?

Second, does your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable have your 
libraries ahead of the system libraries? 

I have seen problems like yours if the LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not correct.
