We had a discussion of wxWindows vs. GTK+ vs. Qt/KDE a while back (most
of it while the mailing lists were broken, so it's not archived), and we
came out with a preference for GTK+. Our working plan is to rewrite the
X front end in GTK+ to make it easier to fill in missing features and to
get a better look. If the Windows port of GTK+ turns out to be stable
and usable, we could consider switching WinBoard to use the same code;
but more likely we'd still leave the Windows and X front ends as
separate code. The existing Windows front end is in fairly good shape
and is not too hard to extend.

I'll forward a few messages to the list with most of the earlier
discussion so you can see more of the rationale.
