Ok, I use either bibtex or biblatex and don't insert bibitem directly

Ha, I did not know about framesubtitle. I have to check that, also I
admit for lecture notes, I sometimes don't even use frametitles since
the occupy to much space, depending on the theme. But for talks it might
come in handy

Ah that is good, I tend to use the fragile command quite a bit,
especially in order to insert code snippets via listings.
