Here is my first impression (my auctex installation was a month old, but
pulling and *just* running make -j, as Keita suggested was sufficiently
fast)

At first I could not find LaTeXMk but it was the usual suspect. I had
modified TeX-command-list more than 1 year ago, and then new, commands
are somehow not «seen».

Be it as it may, it works nicely, although I have to admit, for complex
documents, with bibtex/biblatex and xr-hyper (externaldocument),
subfiles etc

It is a bit too much, meaning latexmk is forced to run several several
times.

But so far it is a nice feature (so is Pauls) maybe at some point his
code could be merged into AuCTeX?
