What about parsing such cmdline options as -d -i379G+ -s17k- meaning rounding up and down? And without + or - use current processing algorithm without any corrections of partial sectors.
Second idea - to round -i to lesser value (down) and -s value UP - to read more data.
The "+-" idea seems confusing. Either leaving the current behaviour or implementing your second idea seem both better and easier.
I am fighting with the idea of reading beyond domain limits, but failing the partial reads in direct mode does not seem a much better solution.
As nobody has complained (yet), I think I'll implement your second idea. Thanks and regards, Antonio.
