Follow-up Comment #20, bug #31511 (project pspp):
The underlying problem isn't the recent manager per se. It seems to be
something to do with the icon factory. The problem was particularly
noticable because it occurs at startup. Removing the recent files manager
avoids the crash at startup, but I'm somewhat worried that it could be
provoked by some other situation.
The patch that Mindaugas linked to might be a more reliable. We'd have to
translate it to C.
