What does "now" in this context mean? Is there any intention to fix
--listed-incremental?

So what exactly are the plans for fixing --listed-incremental ? Are
there any? [You will probably remember that there are other serious
problems for example when using --listed-incremental in combination
with --one-file-system or when passing relative vs. absolute path
names, etc.]

Every program has at least one bug and can be shortened by at least
one instruction - from which, by induction, one can deduce that every
program can be reduced to one instruction which doesn't work.
