Aah, no, *that* check only happens once inside the *NIX gm-print_doc in order
to find out what to *actually* run for printing on the current system.
GNUmed itself tries to be gleefully unaware of the underlying machine
as much as possible by
- checking for gm-print_doc
- and running that or
- if not found just trying to run gm-print_doc.bat
If both approaches fail something's amiss with the setup.
