http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=3330Huh. Table of contents misuses \hspace to indicate an empty line. The current code throws out isolated \hspace from vertical stacks, and I intend keeping that. So \null needs to get used here.
Multiple footnotes in a single text line (\auto-footnote) are numbered backwards. Huh. Interesting effect. Likely because add_to_stencil adds the new stencil to the _front_ of combine-stencil, and lines are now assembled front to back instead of the other way round. I think I'll change what add_to_stencil does and see where this leads.
