Details:

The log plots sometimes do not show the finer division tick marks (for
example, between 10^0 and 10^1, values of 2, 3, 4, etc.) when I try to plot
with the ax=axes; set(ax, 'Xscale', 'log'). The 'hold on' command can
surprisingly take the tick marks away as well.

The grid on command is not successful with showing up on the finer tick marks,
as they only appear for 1e0, 1e1, etc. - the main logarithmic divisions.

I also would prefer in lieu of the 1e+0 1e+2 etc. notation the 10^0 10^2 etc.
notation.

Thanks for your consideration.
