and on the stable branch I also need the fix described in
bug #43171

this is not required when building 4.1+ as the patch has been applied there.

If you want to try out my build I packaged it as a .dmg and uploaded it for
testing here:

I am almost sure I did forget some dependency so I'd appreciate
help in trying whether it works.

I would in particular be interested in knowing whether it can install Forge
packages.

be aware that the install is quite big, a few GB, and an unistaller is not yet
included.
