Follow-up Comment #15, bug #47571 (project octave):
In comment #14, problem 1 is not a problem. It is the nature of UTF-8. Using
UTF-8 APIs and algorithms in place of naive char* processing will solve that.
Most inner loops on char*, like copying, do not even change with char width.
