Follow-up Comment #8, bug #47627 (project octave):

This isn't the right solution.  It is an error to have more than one instance
of the 'MM' identifier.  See comment #2 where this was verified on Matlab. 
Octave needs to produce an error when this condition is detected rather than
continue on using an unknown or assumed value for the month.
