Right.  I only had a glance at the FT2232 datasheet, but basically,
the purpose of the actual bitbang signals is hardwired into the MPSSE.
The only things that can be freely configured are those that are
handled through GPIO pins on the FTDI chip (BUFF and RST, for our
purposes).
