I've used I2C with pull-ups ranging from 3.3k to 10k. Unless you're trying to
use really long lines (> 50 ft), have a high capacitance load, or are trying
to talk at ultra speed (> 1 MHz), I've found the pull-up size doesn't seem to
effect how well the I2C bus works.
