As a complete bystander, I perfectly understand you think I did
something wrong... but though today my mental health was indeed at risk,
I finally concluded that there _really_ is something working
_sometimes_.

To reproduce this undeterminism, it is sufficient to do:

wget http://www.pietrobattiston.it/get_patch_build.sh
chmod +x get_patch_build.sh

./get_patch_build.sh

This same identical script (it's simple, you can verify it doesn't leave
strange files anywhere), which does exactly what Jeremiah suggested,
_sometimes_ works, _sometimes_ doesn't on my Debian unstable
installation (actually, usually it doesn't, but today it did at least
3-4 times).
