As for the title of this message, in addition to objc-improvements-branch (which is my baby) there is a more general apple-ppc-branch, containing more Apple tweaks and extensions to the gcc 3.5 compiler.--Zemobjc-improvements-branchThis branch was originally used to merge Objective-C bug fixes and enhancements from Apple Computer into the FSF tree; this has now beencompleted. Presently, the purpose of the branch is to implement theObjective-C++ language in the FSF GCC source tree. The message thread starting here(follow the link above for the real link) describes this atmore length. This branch is being maintained by Zem Laski <zlaski@apple.com>.
I hope thoroughly that the goal of this branch is attained soon and it will be merged back to mainline before stage 2 of gcc 3.5 starts - which is proposed for JULY 1st according to Mark Mitchell <mark at codesourcery dot com> in http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2004-05/msg01158.html
I don't want to wait another year (which seems to be the approximate time between the minor release numbers according to http://gcc.gnu.org/releases.html#timeline )
regards, Lars
