Is there a reason that a binary package for GUI/Back can't be 
distributed for Windows (aside from lack of a maintainer)?  There is a 
Base binary package already, right?  Most cross-platform projects I 
know tend to acknowledge that (a) compilation is naturally difficult on 
Windows and (b) compilation-installation is not so much the norm on 
this platform anyway, nor needed, since diversity is lower than for 
Unix environments.  So they distribute binary packages for Windows and 
source for everyone else.

If we need to bundle MinGW or Cygwin or whatever I would think this 
could be done..

(BTW, I can dual-boot XP on my laptop but no way am I volunteering to 
do this.. ;-)
