This is because normally those bugs that people are noticing in the release
have been fixed along with a number of others.   It's simpler to have someone
update rather than guide them through the process of patching each and every
individual problem.

If they want to get email from Savannah when a follow up is posted, yes.   But
they can check the bug periodically by going to the savannah website, that's no
big deal.   If you want to get follow ups, register.  It's really that simple.

I've been using back-art successfully for a long time.  I'm at a loss to
explain your difficulties with it which you described earlier in this thread. 
It does have a few extra dependencies, but with good reason.
