duplicity --no-encryption file:////media/sdb/home/thomas/Vorlagen 
/media/sdb/home/thomas/Vorlagen/test/

note the trailing slash. does that work? duplicity is not supposed to overwrite 
anything ever.

are you planning to use backups w/o encryption?
