good idea.

   I'd say, once v21.1 is out, you can do that.

why wait?  the changes involved are small -- conformance bugfix only,
not new features -- and only to two files: lisp/progmodes/hideshow.el
and etc/NEWS.  (hideshow is documented in neither the elisp manual nor
the user manual.)
