There is such a way: don't ``forget'' that letter-case cannot always
be distinguished in file names.

In other words, this sub-thread goes nowhere.  It's clear that you
dislike case-insensitivity in file names, and you are not alone.  It's
also very clear that the other opinion has its proponents, too, who
are not exactly morons.  So let's leave it at that; we don't have to
agree.
