If candidates can be found, it might be an idea to have different
maintainers for the Emacs 22 and the Emacs 23 series since there are
somewhat conflicting focuses and interests.
You are presumably so optimistic as to think we can find more than one
maintainer...
Look up "If" in a dictionary of your choice. Anyway, even if we can't
afford more than one manager, we could look for someone with multiple
personalities in order to fit both the Emacs 22 and Emacs 23
requirements.
