For several weeks I had the same problem with both stable and unstable
versions of planner. Only last week the tag started to work. I installed the
latest develoment versions of planner/emacs-wiki and changed the
diary-relevant settings in .emacs to

| (remove-hook 'calendar-move-hook 'planner-calendar-show)

For new pages the diary is now correctly inserted, not for old ones
though. Unfortunately I can't say why it works now, nor if it will work for
others.
