AO and Sndio seems to be fine for me.

I still need to figure out why the non-threaded output bundles don't work for
me on macppc. Maybe its a bug in the very new rthread library on macppc, since
when
I Ctrl-C in gdb, then I see it hanging there. Otherwise, my i386 snapshot I'm
running is
a couple of weeks older than on the macppc, and it might miss some subtle
changes
so I need to upgrade that box to really be able to make qualified answers.

I've only seen this with MP3 files, but with any output bundle. I.e. double
click
MP3 file to start playing it, it takes about 5 seconds before it actually
starts.
Double click .wav, .mid, .flac, .asf, and playing starts nearly instantly.

Sndio should actually work with or without running sndiod. There is still
lots of NSLog output in the Sndio backend bundle, in case it doesn't work,
can you provide the output maybe.

I'm trying to figure out why the non-threaded output bundles don't work for me
on macppc.

Same here, both work for me.
