I have added "telling a friend" to the "You Can Help" section of our homepage.

Our user community could be a big help on that.

Let us start a Big Glob2 December/Christmas Map Contest.
Put up a few categories (that is vague descriptions how the maps
should look like) and make a blinking announcement of the contest
on our homepage.
First prizes are: those maps will get the title of the best map
of the first Big Glob2 December Map Contest in the category foobar.

But not as panicly as the last time. Testing that everything
works, for at least a week is a must.
The frequent official versions changes might have the downside that users
of different distributions will often have different versions of glob2.
