Yes. The point is that the "stuff _inside_ the files that is (potentially) relevant to file system semantics outside the files" needs to be encoded going in, and decoded going out. AppleSingle is the preferred format for this and is an IETF standard for which good libraries are available. The question is an integration question, not a "how do I make tla understand Macintosh files?" question. That one I could answer myself, given enough time to examine tla's entrails. :-)
