Briefly, 
 
  ~ a "short listing" of "fundamental differences" would be
    impossible.

  ~ compatability with Guile at Scheme or C levels is not a huge
    concern.   Pika will be an R5RS Scheme, and we'll go from there.

  ~ at the same time, it is hard to diverge so far from Guile that 
    either Scheme or C compatability would be impossible or even 
    horribly difficult to achieve.  (Diverging that far is also 
    not a goal.)
