So you're saying that a revlib is "much bigger" or that what I want is "much
bigger" than a revlib?  I think you mean the first.

I already have a revlib (a cache of full-fledged revisions) but
I additionally want to cache things like patches.  I don't think those
extra patches will blow up the whole thing by a factor of 100 or 1000.

BTW, while caching the patches, you might as well cache them
pre-signature-checked so you don't need to check them over and over.

As for using a http proxy, it's indeed pretty much what I'd like, except
I wish it'd also work via sftp (but that's minor) and more importantly
I don't know of any good http proxy that is designed for disconnected
operation.  Oh, and also I doubt that the usual http servers over which
I download the Arch thingies know that what they serve is immutable and
could thus be tagged as "never check freshness".
