I read the original post as 'there isn't a whole lot inherently wrong
with the raw concept of socialism, but everyone to attempt a system
based on it in the past has gone badly wrong'.

I further assumed that anecdotal vs. theoretical divide was being
compared to the same divide in implementing public schooling.
