Some more questions:

Will the SVCD/VCD which will be created be completely compatible with
all home video cd players? 

Can i use xine/mplsyer to playback the SVCD?

Since the images are going into the "SEGMENT" area/folder, does the
limit of 99(?) items apply here?

Earlier today, i booted into windows and tried out Nero Burning CDROM
software. I was able to create a VCD by dragging and dropping jpegs into
the file list. But the resulting VCD was not playable. I could not even
play the AVSEQ01.DAT file using windows media player or any other
software. Nero too, had placed all the JPEG stills into the segments
folder. 

Is the format used by vcdimager and Nero similar for creating VCDS from
still images?
