I honestly have no idea.
It was there before I tried installing freetype or fontconfig.
I still have the old .fontconfig and it contains 10 files like this:

3f33767585151d7ad98cb91c9e820058-i686-apple-darwin8.cache-2

All have 644 permissions and all belonging to my user and my group.

A new .fontconfig was automatically created when I compiled a .ly file.
It looks the same, but currently only has 4 files.
