Hi all,
After all the month-long whining that no perl developer with ~10 hours at hand
could be found for using texi2html for the docs generation, I though that it
couldn't possibly be that hard and I was crazy enough to try it out. -- Well,
it wasn't hard (thanks also to Graham's enthusiasm and administrative help)!
The current status of the conversion (which was aimed at looking like the old
docs) can be found at:
http://kainhofer.com/~lilypond/texi2html-out-traditional/
Could you please have a look at it and tell me about things that should / need
to be fixed before this can be used for the "official" docs creation.
And then I played around a little with the flexibility that texi2html brings
and my current results can be found at:
http://kainhofer.com/~lilypond/texi2html-out/
(Don't worry about the long toc on the left, I simply haven't yet found a way
to show only two levels plus the full path to the current page).
As you can see, there is a lot that texi2html can do (you have basically full
control over the html page generation), so all that is missing is some good
screen design. As this is not my strength, the current output really sucks as
far as a good look (Headers, colors, frames, fonts, layout, text/position of
the navigation links) is concerned. So, who would be willing to do the
graphical design of the docs page, which I can then implement in HTML/CSS?
Also, are there any features that you would like to see in the documentation
(not editorial, but technical stuff!)?
Cheers,
Reinhold
