Hello,

After following the instructions for setting up the script on the website

http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.13/Documentation/web/macos-x#MacOS-X

I can get it working as expected.

For those who read this and use Mac OS (and care) using the default guest
account will work if you don't turn on Parental controls/allow all apps to work
- even if you put Lilypond.app or Terminal in your prefs for guest, I couldn't
get permissions to run the script even though guest was owner and could set u+x
permissions nor could I work out how to add the script to the parental
controls.

For those that don't use Mac OS, this is a very trivial thing, but the in-built
guest account is a wonderfully quick way to test a new/clean user in a few
seconds. It also deletes everything when you log out for that user and
recreates from scratch when you log back in.

You don't need any special permissions (root or otherwise) if you turn off the
parental control/limit applications function.

What is also noticeable (and this maybe blindingly obvious to some) that as my
own login is an administrative account; I am guessing I have access to
/usr/bin/usr/sbin/ or wherever it is, and so running lilypond in the terminal
without any prep gives a false impression in that it doesn't come back with a
'not found' but still won't work unless I set up the script as per the
instructions.

If you try to run 'lilypond' as a guest (which is a non-admin user) in the
terminal then the app is not found and so you must use the script method.

I hope this helps.

James

Could you try adding a -v or -vv or -V or -VV or something between
the lilypond and your file? that would give us some more info.

James Bailey, could you try to compare notes with James Lowe to
see what's up? You're both on OSX. If it works for one person
but not the other, then something weird is up. Maybe try deleting
the font cache?

Oh, speaking of that, could somebody add "deleting the font cache"
to the new website faq?

I'm sick again, and do not wish to think. Or swallow. ouch.

not-cheers,
- Graham
