I like any mean that can increase communication, and in particular
between Lilypond and other formats and programs. Moreover your script
seems to be written because of pratical and useful needs.

If you want I can add it to my download area on Savannah.nongnu.org - I
have xml2ly hosted there - even if it would be a bit off topic.
It could be useful to start an free project somewhere - eg. on Savannah
:-) but if you cannot do that at present, I'd be glad keep it on my
space in the meanwhile.
