Hi,
We recently started using Localizer for a new project. We are experiencing some problems with Localizer and think it's due to the version of Zope/Python we're using. The version as displayed in the Control_Panel is this: (Zope 2.5.0 (source release, python 2.1, linux2) [SuSE Linux], python 2.2.0, linux2) Apparently we've upgraded to a higher Python level than we should. Rolling back our Python version is not what we like to do. Can anyone tell us when Localizer can be used with our Zope/Python version? Kind regards, Bert Haver

Hi Bert,

Zope 2.5.x is for Python 2.1, it's strongly recommended to
*not* use Zope 2.5.x with Python 2.2

The first Zope version that will support Python 2.2 will be
2.7, but there isn't a date for its release, it could take
months.

So:

 Zope 2.5 + Python 2.1  --> Good
 Zope 2.6 + Python 2.1  --> Good
 Zope 2.7 + Python 2.1  --> Bad
 Zope 2.5 + Python 2.2  --> Bad
 Zope 2.6 + Python 2.2  --> Bad
 Zope 2.7 + Python 2.2  --> Good

Now, add Localizer to the equation (only the good ones are
shown):

 Zope 2.5 + Python 2.1 + Localizer 0.8
 Zope 2.6 + Python 2.1 + Localizer 0.9
 Zope 2.7 + Python 2.2 + Localizer 1.2

As I've mentioned Localizer 1.2, I'm going to explain which are
the release plans:

* Localizer 0.9.1

  First beta release of Localizer, for Zope 2.6

  It could work with Zope 2.5 or older versions if the correct
  patches are applied

* Localizer 1.0

  First stable release. Idem as 0.9.1

* Localizer 1.1

  Development release, for Zope 2.7 (and Python 2.2)

* Localizer 1.2

  Stable release, for Zope 2.7 (and Python 2.2)

The goal is to release Localizer 0.9.1 immediately after the
release of Zope 2.6.0b1, then I'll focus on stability and
documentation to release 1.0 as soon as posible.

In the meanwhile Florent will work on what will become the
1.1 development series, which will end in the 1.2 stable
release.

As you see we'll follow a release system similar to the one
for Linux.

So, in summary, my suggestion is to move to Python 2.1

Anyway, if you stay with Python 2.2, please, describe which
problems do you have, and we'll try to help.

Best regards,
