Follow-up Comment #9, bug #37290 (project octave):

Looks good here.  The demo/sombrero combination passes and "test rmappdata"
passes all tests.

On the "setappdata()" side of things there are tests for existence, etc.  So,
I guess the only thing is whether you want to use the existing "isappdata()"
in some way, but I think the patch is more efficient.
