Rik,

I wish that your "six months" was all it will take.
But, Fedora 19 already fails, Fedora 20 will have the
bug for some time, and many people skip fedora releases
since each update is extra work. And, overriding
the standard packages in Fedora is more work. About
20 packages are required to make this gcc change.
Not many users will be willing or able to do this.

Is it true that the patch can go in data.cc overriding
the bad code in bits/dtl_algo.h defines? If this can
be done it does not seem like a lot of trouble or
"baggage."

We could try to move the problem to the various packagers.
The Fedora packagers already know about the problem, and
they have more leverage with the gcc folks...

However, if the patch is pretty simple I still would
like to see it go in.  This is not just because I am
one of the users who will have to fix it myself...
