Follow-up Comment #7, bug #42444 (project octave): The config.log says that you do not have the pcre-config program in your PATH and you do not have pcre.h in your default include path. This is likely a support issue and not a bug in Octave's configure script, because we have many users building Octave on many different distributions and PCRE is always required.
