Follow-up Comment #27, bug #53737 (project octave):
Some basic support for transparency of patch and surface objects was added for
qt and fltk and will be available in the soon to be released Octave 4.4 (no
back to front sorting still).
It should work on-screen and for printing to pdf and svg files.
