I'm afraid I disagree completely. It is most certainly the job of the
window manager (and not individual applications) to maintain the
positions and sizes of windows. Do you have documentation/prior art to
back up your position? To quote from _Learning the Unix Operating System,
5th edition_
"...the main use of a window manager is to manage windows opened by other
programs."
