I use checkinstall to build my rpms from source, they are identical to
using "make install" from the source code.

I have gnet-1.1.9, and gnet-2.0.3 built from source on a SuSE 7.3
box that is much patched and upgraded. If you want I can
submit them (but I will need info on just how to go about doing so <g> )

(I did cheat and make rpms named -devel (it has the exact same files as the 
other rpm but some apps wanna see a -devel) so if you load both be sure
to use the --replacefiles option )
